Today is Duke Ellington, pictured here with his band members playing baseball in front of their segregated motel ("Astor Motel") while touring in Florida.

The NLBM and American Jazz Museum combine to show how such stars as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Charlie “Bird” Parker would bring their collective star power and love of baseball to a burgeoning civil rights movement led by Baseball and Jazz.
