#Spotlight – This week we celebrate Women’s History Month, including the amazing accomplishments and firsts from many women in sports history.
As part of Women’s History Month, we celebrate the women of Baseball, from the AAGPBL, Negro Leagues, MLB, Little League, Authors and Media. Today are some of the storytellers.
Jessica Mendoza didn’t just star for Stanford softball and star for the US Olympic team, she became the 1st female analyst for ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball -

Claire Smith, baseball writer and MLB beat reporter, was 1st elected to Baseball Hall of fame as J.G. Taylor Spink Award winner by BBWAA.
Smith covered the Yankees for 5 years & is now with ESPN.
Melissa Ludtke was a reporter who was barred from covering MLB in the locker room in ’78 & went to court, winning Equal Access for women covering baseball and gaining permanent representation.
Alison Gordon, became the 1st beat reporter in MLB for the Toronto Blue Jays in 1979 and the 1st female to be a member of the BBWAA, she would also become a well known Fiction writer.
In 2015, fellow Spotlight member Claire Smith penned a piece for ESPN.com on her admiration for Gordon.
